Wood Duck Box

$28.00

This box includes pre-drilled holes for mounting and for ventilation and drainage purposes. When mounting your box, remember that the box could be attractive to predators such as raccoons. Boxes should be erected on wood or metal posts and can be placed on trees if they can be made safe (place a guard on tree below box). Boxes should be placed at the edge of a water body about 10’ from the ground. Maintenance is extremely important as wood ducks do not collect nesting materials, so a 3” deep layer of wood shavings should be provided, and boxes should be cleaned each year in the fall. Wood ducks will tolerate close nesting conditions, so boxes may be placed in small clusters.
