Seedling 12"-18"

Large, stately tree that is pyramidal to conical in shape. Named for its cup shaped, tulip-like flowers that bloom in spring. Flowers are yellow with an orange band at the base of each petal and are 2” long, appearing after leaves. Flowers give way to dray, scaly, oblong, cone shaped fruits. Leaves are 4 lobed, 8” across, and green with yellow fall color. Mature height of up to 90’ and spread of up to 50’. Prefers full sun and moist, organically rich, well-drained loam soils.

Uses: Native, Habitat/Food Wildlife, Environmental Forestry, Timber
