Medium sized tree with broad rounded crown and short trunk that grows at a moderate rate. Grows in moist to swampy locations and along streambanks but has surprisingly good drought resistance. Leaves are dark, shiny green above and silvery white beneath with 5-10 rounded lobes and yellow fall color. Produces acorns that mature in early fall. Mature height and spread of up to 60’. Prefers full sun and medium to wet acidic soils.
