Bluebird House

$20.00

This box includes pre-drilled holes for mounting and for ventilation and drainage purposes. Bluebirds prefer open areas with scattered trees, and rarely nest in wooded areas. Mount your box 3’-5’ high on a post. Mounting any lower than 3’ will increase the chances of predation and mounting higher than 5’ will encourage house sparrows to take over. Boxes should be “doubled up”- for every box placed, place another one within 10-15’. This is the best way to decrease competition. Place “sets” of boxes 100’ apart. Face the box towards a tree, shrub, or pole so the young can fly towards it. Clean box out yearly in the fall for best results.
