Balsam Fir 'Cooks Blue'

The balsam fir ‘Cooks Blue’ has a narrow and conical shape and is usually found in moist woods and bottomlands. It has aromatic needles that are soft and blue/green with a silver underside. Cones are purple, 2-4” long, and appear upright on the branches at the crown. This variety is more heat tolerant than other balsams and is known for its good needle retention and fragrance. Mature height up to 75’ with a spread of up to 30’. Prefers full sun to partial shade and well drained, acidic, moist soil.
