Arrowwood is upright, rounded, and multi-stemmed and usually found on wooded slopes. Non-fragrant white flowers in flat-topped clusters arrive in spring (up to 4” diameter), giving way to blue/black drupes that resemble berries and attract wildlife. Berries are edible to humans, but are bitter and best used in preserves. Leaves are toothed, glossy, dark green, and 4” long with varying fall color. It is very winter hardy and good for borders, screens, and backgrounds. Mature height and spread of up to 10’. Prefers medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade, but tolerates many soils.
