In order to proceed with an agricultural assessment, you will first need to obtain a soil group worksheet from us to give your assessor along with your application (we will provide an application along with your soil group worksheet). A soil group worksheet lists how many acres of each type of soil you have on your property. Your assessor will use this worksheet, along with the rest of your application, to help determine your tax exemption.

Important things to note:

  • Requests for Soil Group Worksheets are due to us by February 20th

  • Applications and renewals are due to your assessor by March 1st each year

  • One form must be filled out for each parcel

  • You must submit a renewal form annually to your assessor once you have completed the agricultural assessment

  • Up to 50 acres of farm woodland is eligible for agricultural assessment on each tax parcel held by an eligible owner

  • Land associated with buildings and residences is ineligible

  • If land is rented, an rp305c form must be completed by lessor and lessee every 5 years
