Soil Group Worksheet for Agricultural Assessment

$35 per parcel for new worksheet $15 per parcel for revised worksheet

Land that is used in agricultural production (cropland, pasture, orchards, vineyards, support land) could be eligible for partial exemption from real property taxes.

Requirements to be eligible:

  • Land must consist of 7 or more acres used in agricultural production

  • Land was used in the preceding 2 years for agricultural production

  • Gross sales of agricultural products must average $10,000 or more for the preceding 2 years

  • Land is located in a agricultural district OR committed to 8 years of continued agricultural use

  • Land rented to a farmer for agricultural use is eligible, if it meets the above requirements

In order to proceed with an agricultural assessment, you will first need to obtain a soil group worksheet from us to give your assessor along with your application (we will provide an application along with your soil group worksheet). A soil group worksheet lists how many acres of each type of soil you have on your property. Your assessor will use this worksheet, along with the rest of your application, to help determine your tax exemption. Contact us to get started!

Important things to note:

  • Applications and renewals are due to your assessor by March 1st each year

  • You must submit a renewal form annually to your assessor once you have completed the agricultural assessment

  • Up to 50 acres of farm woodland is eligible for agricultural assessment on each tax parcel held by an eligible owner

  • Land associated with buildings and residences is ineligible

  • If land is rented, an rp305c form must be completed by lessor and lessee every 5 years

  • A single agricultural operation can consist of multiple parcels, but a separate application will need to be completed for each parcel
